1. Install and run your first comparison
- Add RETA from the Chrome Web Store and allow the requested permissions.
- Open the extension. RETA opens its comparison experience in a browser tab.
- Enter a specific search such as Bounty Quick-Size paper towels 8 family rolls.
- Keep the retailers you want enabled and run the search.
- Review returned products, then open the live listing at the retailer you choose.
Better query
“Bounty Quick-Size, 8 family rolls” gives RETA clearer product intent than “paper towels.”
Verify the variant
Confirm pack size, seller, coupon, shipping and final total on the live retailer page.
2. Compare while browsing a retailer
On supported Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Costco and eBay search or product pages, look in the bottom-right corner for the Compare at 5 more stores pill.
- Read the query shown in the pill. That is what RETA will compare.
- Click the pill. It changes to an opening state while RETA focuses or creates its tab.
- RETA enters the query and starts the normal multi-retailer comparison.
- A toast identifies the source retailer so you know why the tab changed.
The pill will not appear on cart, checkout, sign-in, account, order or payment pages. Clicking the X dismisses it for that tab session.
3. Use Price Watch
- Click Watch on a result card with a readable price.
- Open the Watchlist tab to see watched price, current price, percentage movement and last-check status.
- Use Open to verify the live listing, Check to request an update or Remove to stop watching.
RETA attempts scheduled local checks approximately every six hours and may refresh more reliably when you personally visit the watched product page. A failed check is labeled stale; it is not proof that the price is unchanged.
4. Save a purchase to local order history
After choosing an item, click Bought on its RETA card. RETA saves a local record with product information and the time you saved it. Open Order History to review records, delete an item, clear all records or export CSV.
This is a local shopping record, not a retailer receipt. RETA does not confirm that checkout completed.
5. Use RETA with or without AI
No API key
Use local Top Picks. RETA builds structured recommendations from returned product facts without sending the request to an AI provider.
OpenAI or Gemini
- Open AI Settings inside RETA.
- Select OpenAI or Gemini.
- Paste your own provider API key and, when needed, choose the model.
- Save settings and ask a conversational shopping question.
Provider usage can cost money under that provider’s API terms. Never email your API key to support.
6. “Needs action,” login or CAPTCHA
RETA uses your own retailer browser session. A retailer may require you to sign in, choose a delivery location, accept a consent page or complete a CAPTCHA. When RETA surfaces a retailer that needs action:
- Open the retailer page indicated by RETA.
- Complete the retailer’s request yourself.
- Return to RETA and retry or refresh that retailer.
RETA does not bypass retailer security or automatically enter your retailer password.
7. Common troubleshooting
The Compare with RETA pill is missing
- Confirm you are on a supported retailer search-results or product-detail page.
- It is intentionally absent from cart, checkout, sign-in, account, order and payment pages.
- You may have dismissed it for that tab. Open a new retailer tab or reload in a new tab.
- Wait a moment after retailer navigation; many retailer pages update without a full reload.
- Confirm RETA is enabled in Chrome and has site access for that retailer.
A store returns no results or times out
- Open that retailer directly and confirm it loads normally.
- Complete any sign-in, location, consent or CAPTCHA request.
- Use a shorter, more product-specific query.
- Retry only the affected retailer when possible.
- Remember that retailer pages and layouts can change faster than an extension update.
The price or delivery is different on checkout
Retailers can change price, coupon eligibility, seller, membership discount, inventory, tax, shipping and delivery after RETA retrieves a result. The live retailer page and checkout control the transaction.
Clear local RETA data
Remove individual Watchlist or history entries from their panels. Use Clear for local order history. Remove optional API keys from AI Settings. Removing the extension from Chrome stops RETA and removes its extension data from that Chrome installation subject to Chrome’s behavior.
Still stuck?
Email Reuven@retapp.ai with the retailer, page type, what you searched, what happened and your RETA version. A screenshot is helpful.
